create: the envelope liner

On 24, Apr 2013 | No Comments | In create, design | By amgeorgedesign

I love sending cards in the mail for pretty much any occasion. One of my favorite ways to dress up an envelope is a liner! Instead of buying the pre-cut bulk liners from an online vendor, next time just do it yourself! It’s super simple and takes very little time. Here are the step by step instructions.

Materials:

Envelope to Line

Extra Envelope for Template

Patterned Paper for Liner (or Print Your Own)

Ruler

Glue Stick

Bone Fold

Pencil

Pair of Scissors (or Exacto Knife + Self-Healing Cutting Mat)

Step 1: Pick the envelope you want to line! Grab an extra one for the template.

Step 2: Unfold and tear open the envelope.

Step 3: Cut off the outer flaps of the template envelope only leaving the top flap.

Step 4: Trace the template you’ve created on the patterned paper you will be using for the liner.

Step 5: Cut out the traced shape! In order to fit the linerĀ insideĀ the envelope, cut about an 1/8 of an inch inside the line.

Step 6: Fit the cut out liner inside the envelope. Then, use your ruler and bone fold to create a crease along the bending point of the envelope.

Step 7: To reinforce the crease, fold over the top envelope flap.

Step 8: Grab your glue stick and adhere the top flap of the envelope with the top flap of the liner.
